Consumer Protection

The building of an integrated economic region with a people-centred approach requires taking into account consumer interests in all measures taken to achieve such integration. 

Consumer protection measures are already being developed and strengthened in tandem with the proposed economic measures through the: 

  • establishment of the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCCP);
  • establishment of a network of consumer protection agencies to facilitate information sharing and exchange; and 
  • organisation of regional training courses for consumer protection officials and consumer leaders in preparation for an integrated ASEAN market.
